2 Months Smoke Free

It's been 2 months since I've had a smoke or even a puff. My quit date was March 22, 2008. Thought I would do an update to let everyone know how things are going. I quit using the cold turkey method 2 months ago.

I seldom even have a thought about a cig now. Cravings ? I think I may have had a couple of minor cravings for a cig in the past couple of days. I wouldn't actually call them a crave. More like a thought. Those thoughts were easily dismissed.

I feel the smoking is over with for good now. I just have to remember. I can never take another puff off a cig. To do so would be to throw away this entire quit. I'll always be a nicotine addict. I can never take another puff. It's really that simple now. I'll keep this blog updated from time to time. Later.

Stop Smoking Day 56

Hi Everyone. I've been smoke free for 56 days now. I feel much better since I've quit smoking. Coughing gone, dizziness gone, shortness of breath gone, tingling sensation in back gone, all chest pains are gone. Smoking was causing all those things !!!

The only downside right now is I don't have quite as much energy as I did when I smoked. However, this is normal from what I've learned. My energy will return probably within 3 - 6 months. I do have plenty of energy. Just not as much as when I smoked.

Withdrawal pangs are virtually non existant (sp?) I hardly ever crave a smoke now. When I do. It's always a minor pang and easily dismissed. One thing that is so strange about this quit is my appetite hasn't increased. I may have gained 2 pounds. I know I've mentioned this before. But I've never heard of anyone quitting smoking without having a huge appetite.

This quit is so much different than all the other times I attempted to quit. I know and have known since week one that I will never smoke another cigarette again. I've never had this much confidence in quitting smoking. I was never comfortable in my 4 and a half month quit last year. In the back of my mind. I knew I would eventually go back to smoking. I no longer think about cigarettes that way.

It's all due to "Allen Carr's Book" You can find a link to the book to purchase it in several of my other posts. Without reading allen carrs book. I would probably be back smoking today. I will keep everyone updated. Later.

Stop Smoking Day 49

It's been several days since I've did an update. I'm still smoke free at 49 days. The past few days have been rather easy. I seldom think about smoking now. If I do get a craving, it is minor and easily dealt with. I believe yesterday was the first day that I didn't think about a cigarette at all. Maybe once or twice.

Everything is going fantastic. I know their will be new triggers ahead and I can't get overconfident in this quit. However, The worse is behind me now. It's time to move on. I'll keep everyone updated. Later.

Stop Smoking Day 43

The past 2 days have been great. I haven't hardly even thought about a cigarette. I've had maybe a couple of minor cravings. No big deal. Those thoughts were easily dismissed. I received my "Artificial Cigarette"from ups yesterday. I talked about ordering it in my previous post made day before yesterday. Here's a link to the artificial cigarette I'm talking about. Ez-Quit

Here's my thoughts on the ez-quit artificial cigarette. I don't think I'm a good candidate to make a good opinion on it since I didn't use it until I was on Day 42 of my quit. With that said, Here's my opinion. On a basis of 1 star to 5 stars, with 5 stars having the highest rating. I would give this artificial cigarette 4 stars. I definitely recommend it. You simple insert a cartridge inside the cigarette. Then puff away. It has a good mint flavor. No smoke. No harmful nicotine. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because I didn't use it until day 42 of my quit.

Will this artificial cigarette replace your nicotine cigarette? NO !!!!! However, I look at it as another weapon to help one to stop smoking permanetley. The price is right. Shipping and all was about $23.00. I chose to have it shipped by ups ground. It's cheaper if you have it shipped through the post office I think. The cigarette comes with 3 cartridges. Each cartridge is supposed to last about 15 days. The cartridges are mint flavored. You can buy the refill cartridges from ezquit seperately when you need them in the future.

I'm not making a cent off any of the products I'm recommending. These are products that I'm personally using to help with my "Cold Turkey Quit." I have the ezquit artificial cig in my mouth now as I'm typing. It leaves a very refreshing mint taste in your mouth.

I have a confession to make. During the past several days. I've become obsessed with checking out stop smoking products on the web. Theirs hundreds of things out there to help you stop smoking when you are ready. Books, Cd's, Nicotine Replacement products, Hypnosis, Acupuncture, Herbal remedies, Lotions, Potions, about anything one could imagine. None of these products can make you stop smoking. However, If your ready to stop smoking. I mean really ready to quit smoking. I think any of the above products may help you. You see, It's not the product that makes you quit smoking. It's your mindset. The product just helps relieve the withdrawal symptoms.

I came across some products on the web that I didn't know existed. Their called "Electronic cigarettes" or "E-Cigs." Here's a couple of links to youtube that describe what the "electronic cigarette" is. Could this product help people quit smoking? Is this the product that all the smokers have been waiting for that will allow them to smoke almost anywhere ? You be the Judge. Here's the links. Take a look.

That's all for today.

Stop Smoking Day 41

41 days without a cigarette. Today and yesterday have been very good. I've thought about a cigarette a few times during the past couple of days. However, They were just weak junky thoughts. I don't even consider them a crave they were so minor. They were easily dismissed.

I know I can never get over confident in this quit. A small junky thought ruined a 4 and a half month quit for me last year. How? The thought went something like this. You've done so well. You haven't had a cigarette in 4 and a half months. Most days you don't even think about smoking. How about taking just one puff and celebrating ? You've conquered the smoking addiction. CELEBRATE !!!. I gave in to that little thought and smoked a half cigarette. Within a week, I was back to smoking about 16 cigarettes a day.

I never went back to my normal amount of 2 packs. I averaged about 16 cigs per day for about a year after the relapse. Or a little less than a pack a day. This quit has been a little harder than last year. However, I have only gained about 3 or 4 pounds this time. Last year I gained about 20 pounds. One thing that has been very unusual about this quit is My concentration hasn't been effected during this entire quit. Maybe a little bit during the first week. All previous attempts I couldn't concentrate hardly any.

I just remembered it's been about 4 days or so since I've had to listen to one of my Stop Smoking Hypnosis Cd's. I don't want to lose this quit under any circumstances. I'm going to list every weapon I'm using to quit using the "Cold Turkey Method."

  • Dollar General Cough Drops (Menthol Flavor) These are great for me. When I have a desire to smoke I Just put on of these cough drops in my mouth. Really cheap also. Get them at any "Dollar General Store" They come in a blue bag. You can also get them in Honey and Cherry flavors. That's weapon number one.

  • The Easy Way To Stop Smoking: By Allen Carr This book is a must read. Look at the reviews on amazon. 5 Stars with about 400 reviews. That's basically unheard of. Purchase this book or see if your library has it. The knowledge contained in this book can mean the difference between being a permanant cigarette addict or quitting completely.

  • Stop Smoking In One Hour This is a book and a stop smoking hypnosis cd. I highly recommend it.

  • Stop Smoking Forever Another Stop smoking hypnosis cd. This cd and the one listed above are the 2 things that saved my quit more than anything else. Without the hypnosis cd's I would have failed many times. They are the most important weapons for me in this quit. Especially during the first few weeks. When I almost relapsed several times. Instead of smoking. I would use one of these hypnosis cd's. After listening to one of them I would be completely relaxed and not wanting to smoke after listening. If you are going to quit cold turkey. I can't highly reccommend these 2 cd's enough. For me, they were the difference between not smoking and total relapse.

Which one is the best you ask ? They are both great. If I had to choose between the 2. I would pick the "Stop Smoking In One Hour" By: Susan Hepburn. However, that may be because I'm a male and like the sound of a female voice more than a male voice. Both CD'S Work.

  • The Easy Way To Stop Smoking Audio Book This is an audio book of "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" By: Allen Carr Their are 5 cd's in this audio book. It's basically a guy that reads the book for you page by page. So if you don't want to read the book, or dislike reading. You should consider this audio book "Easy Way To Stop Smoking" Same book, just on audio cd instead of book form. I like the book best. Because I enjoy reading. However, this would be great for me if I was out traveling in my car or something. I could listen to the cd's while I drive. These ARE NOT hypnosis cd's.

Those are the tools I'm currently using in my cold turkey quit. However, I'm getting to a point now that I'm using all of them much less. I believe it's been around 4 days since I've listened to a hypnosis cd. I'm using about half the amount of cough drops now that I was using at the beginning of this quit. I've just read Allen Carrs Book once. However, I think I may read it again every now and then to stay strong and not take that one puff that will spell utter disaster.

I'm adding another weapon to my stop smoking arsenal. I don't know why I even ordered this product... but the concept sounds good. What is it? It's an artificial cigarette made by ez-quit. Here's a link.Artificial Cigarette Contains only food additive . can use it like a regular cigarette, except it's harmless. This is more for people that don't know what to do with their hand since it's not holding a cigarette. I don't know why I ordered it. I don't have a problem with keeping my hands busy. This product should be here at my house tommorow.

Their is one more product that I'm border line in ordering. It would only be used in a desperate emergency when all other products would fail. I've preached against some of these products in other posts I've made, and I stand by what I said. Nothings changed their. I'm talking about the Commit Lozenge

As I previously stated. I don't want to lose this quit. These Lozenges would only be used if all other methods failed. If it ever came to that point. Just Relapse Insurance. I haven't made up my mind whether I'm going to order them or not. I think I will. My book is finished now. LOL. Later.

Stop Smoking Day 39

The last 3 days have been going good. I still haven't smoked. Not even a puff. I almost gave in and smoked the other day. I'm so glad I didn't. After 39 smoke free days, I feel the worse is behind me now. I know their will be some rough spots ahead. i just have to take it one day at a time.

If you've ever thought about quitting smoking. Just do it is all I can say. Don't try to quit until you're ready though. If you fail, don't be hard on yourself. I've failed dozens of times. I know I just have to keep trying until I quit for good. Ones desire to quit must be greater than ones desire to smoke.

Choose a method to stop smoking that you think will be best for you. I'm doing cold turkey, along with listening to 2 different stop smoking hypnosis cd's. Read through all my posts and I give the names of everything I use to quit smoking along with links to the products.

Read the stop smoking articles on Whyquit dot com. As I've previously stated in other posts. Whyquit.com is a goldmine of information for anyone trying to quit smoking. Hundreds of free articles. That's all for now.

P.S. I was searching through some stop smoking articles and found this. Some of the medications prescribed to help smokers stop smoking can possibly make you suicidal. Here's the link. Click Here

(Sigh) Here's a link to some reviews of the "Commit Lozenges" Notice the people that are hooked on the "commit lozenges" while they have stopped smoking. Some are now addicted to the Lozenges Here's the link. Click Here Use whatever means to quit that works for you. However, using any product that contains nicotine may have you just swapping addictions. That's a choice you have to make.
